"All That Jazz" ~ Mixed Media

John Alan Stock has been exhibiting his art in museums and galleries for over thirty-five years. The broad range of expression in his art reflects an inquisitive mind with diverse interests. This creative impulse is drawn from an active life enriched by international travel.

Although recent shows have exhibited his acrylic paintings and mixed media, John has worked extensively in watercolors, graphite drawings, oils, pastel and ink monographs, and sculpture. His work has been accepted into many international, national, and regional juried museum exhibitions. He has been represented by galleries in the U.S. and by galleries in twelve foreign nations. The artist has enjoyed participating in a number of major touring exhibitions including the Smithsonian’s American Bicentennial Juried Drawing Exhibition.

John has been active in the related fields of graphic arts for print media, stage design for theater and commissioned posters for the performing arts. His life-long fascination with the creative process stimulated an early interest in recording interviews and observations of creative people at work using tapes, film, and journals. This reservoir of reflection has enriched his perspective and serves as a source of reference for his instructional seminars and workshops on creative thinking. John earned a degree in Architecture from Ohio State University and is a registered professional Architect in the State of Virginia living in Virginia Beach.
